Very Soon you will be receiving your Council Tax bill. The Parish Council part of the has risen by 19%, which in 'real money' terms equates to £1.57 per month at Band D.
This increase reflects not only the inflation over the past year, but also the parish council is now the owners of the Winston Avenue car park. This used to be owned by Blaby District Council, who gave it to the parish council along with the associated costs.
The parish council has also employed a General Handyperson, part time, to upkeep all parish owned land, associated buildings and equipment. The General Handyperson also has the remit for litter picking throughout the village. Many parishioners have previously complained about litter and this parish council has not only listened but have acted on it.
These additional costs have increased the financial burden on your parish council. But be assured that the precept is spent wisely in the parish.
Very recently the parish council has been asked to take over the churchyard cemetery extension, as the church is intending to close it to further burials.
Discussions will now take place, and it may well mean another financial burden to the parish council?!
